Sadly, we will be closed through at least the end of June. Updates will be posted here and on our Facebook page. Thank you! Be safe, be well. Captain Mark, Mindy, Cathy and Crew.
ALSO, the Connecticut River Raptors Festival that WAS scheduled for April 18, 2020, has been postponed until April 17, 2021.
Nature is our business…
….and NATURE is good!
As all non-essential businesses are right now, we will be closed until May 20…at least, due to the Covid-19 virus. Please be safe and well, for you and for others, by practicing social distancing and stay at home as much as possible. We all hope to be able to get back to normal (??) as soon as possible! In the meantime, we will try to keep this section updated on nature along the lower Connecticut River (and sometimes beyond). All the Bald Eagles nests within our cruising area have at least one chick (we will not know how many until we see their little heads pop up), one is still incubating. This is exciting news! We believe all the Ospreys have returned, also. Hard to know since we have only made it out on the river once this April. We do know the East Haddam Swing Bridge couple is back, trying to add sticks to their nest….however, the rain and wind is making it very difficult! Many of the Osprey nests that were built in trees were destroyed by some harsh winter wind, so there is a lot of rebuilding to be done. We wish them luck! We have seen Mute Swans nesting in the marsh in Haddam and a Great Blue Heron rookery in Lyme with 13 nests, a couple of them already have egg(s). We will keep you posted! PLEASE all be safe, be well and take care of yourselves and others. HOPE to see you soon. All the best, the RiverQuest crew.
