A description of our North Sunset Cruise and South Sunset Cruise.

Generally, we will cruise North, however, our final destination is always at the discretion of the Captain, dependent on amount of passengers, weather and mood!

North Sunset Cruise

RiverQuest will cruise north up the Connecticut River through the towns of Essex, Deep River and Chester on the west side, and the virtually untouched landscape of the town of Lyme on the east side. We will pass several marinas and yacht clubs, Selden’s Island, Gillette’s Castle and then turn to see the sunset over the hills of Chester. Flora, fauna and civilization of the river edges will be observed while enjoying this peaceful early evening into twilight cruise.

South Sunset Cruise

RiverQuest will cruise south down the Connecticut River through the towns of Essex and Old Saybrook on the west side, Lyme and Old Lyme on the East side. We will cruise past several marinas, under the Baldwin Bridge, under the Old Lyme Draw Bridge, past the Lynde Point Lighthouse (Saybrook Inner), the community of Fenwick in Old Saybrook where the late Katherine Hepburn resided (dependent on wind and wave, we may go into Long Island Sound to view her beach home), to the mouth of the river and the Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse (Saybrook Outer). On the return to Essex, relax and enjoy the evening and sun setting over the western horizon.

Harbors and Creeks

RiverQuest will cruise north up the Connecticut River through the town of Essex to the town of Lyme. There we will cruise into Hamburg Cove, made famous by impressionist artists of the 19th century. Now a popular place for yachtsman. Exit Hamburg Cove. cruise further north to Selden Creek. If conditions are right, we will enter Selden Creek, a peaceful, unspoiled creek. We may go all the way through to the north end or turn and go back out the south end. Again, if conditions are right, we will go through Deep River Landing area, turn back to Essex.
