Our relaxing, informative 2008 Daytime Cruises are:
1.5 hour cruise departs at 1:30pm (Weekdays and Weekends) OR 1 hour cruise departs at 3:30pm (Weekends only - on hold until the weather improves)
However:
Please, always check our Calendar because of the time change (used to be 1:00pm and 3:00pm), some previously scheduled group or private cruises may interfere with our "new" times.
As we leave from the dock at the Connecticut River Museum (you can park in the museum parking lot) we will cruise through Essex Harbor, up the pristine lower Connecticut River. During the cruise your Captain and crew will narrate about local history, point out areas of interest and inform you of the river’s flora and fauna. You will see some magnificent homes along with many areas that have been preserved by The Nature Conservancy, State of Connecticut, local towns and private individuals.
On the 1.5 hour, 1:30pm cruise, as we make our turn back to Essex, you will get a great view of Gillette’s Castle and the Chester/Hadlyme Ferry, the second oldest operating ferry in the US. Adult: $20.00; Youth (2 years to 12 years): $15.00; Under 2: Free
On the 1 hour, 3:30pm cruise. we will turn back to Essex at Joshua's rock. Adult: $15.00; Youth (2 years to 12 years): $10.00; Under 2: Free
If you'd like, make the cruise easy, bring your lunch, snack and/or favorite beverage with you. Please check in at the dock at least five minutes before departure. RiverQuest leaves on time!
Each season on The Connecticut River is beautiful: Spring: Osprey and other migratory birds have returned, foliage is unfolding displaying lovely colors, warmth of the Sun! Summer: Cool breezes, Osprey and their hatchlings, resident Eagles and their babies. The river is alive! Fall: The crisp air, beautiful foliage colors, serene river. Winter: Eagle Cruise, many wintering birds, an enjoyable, tranquil time to be on the river (different price and cruise length).
RiverQuest also offers a peaceful, relaxing Sunset Cruises most evenings during the summer.
