February 7, 2010: Today was beautiful! A little
chilly, but, the wind was lighter and there was "abundant" sunshine. Captain Mark has
RiverQuest
ready to go. First
Eagle Cruise
is on February 13th, leaving from Eagle Landing State Park Haddam and
the forecast is for nice weather. Our experienced naturalists and crew will be
onboard for another great year. Can’t
wait! Hope to see you aboard.

PLEASE,
please check our
Calendar
for any updates, sometimes things change during the day.
This year I will try to keep up and put a picture of each
Bird/creature that we've seen either on a cruise or from our home, the
vessel Adventure, (docked at Essex Island Marina) in our Picture Gallery
(click on the Great Blue Heron). Thus far this winter (up to January 04) I've
seen:
common merganser, peregrine falcon, red tailed hawk, red
shouldered hawk, cooper hawk, great cormorant, rough legged hawk, herring gull, great black backed gull,
ring billed gull, northern harrier, mallard duck, mute swan, ruddy duck,
long tailed duck (oldsquaw), lesser scaup, canada geese. I'll try to finish
gallery this week!
Check out this
YouTube video of an immature eagle attacking two young eaglets in a nest in
California. We are quite certain that this is what happened to our "Lyme"
eaglets in 2007!
